The IC670MDL730 electronic short-circuit protection output module is a positive logic discrete output module from GE Fanuc. It offers 8 discrete outputs that have electronic overcurrent and short circuit protection. Each output point generates a fault waring if 1 of these 2 conditions has occurred. The IC670MDL730 discrete output module is compatible with the GE Fanuc IC670GBI002 Genius bus interface unit revision 2.10 or later. Some of the output characteristics of the module include 10 Amps of maximum inrush current per point, 0.5 Volts of maximum steady-state overcurrent per point, 0.5 milliamps of output leakage current at 30 Volts DC, and 20 Amps of short circuit response time for 100 microseconds.
The IC670MDL730 discrete output module has 4 optional keying locations that are the A, C, J, and K keying location. It is designed to be used with a Profibus bus interface unit or an Interbus-S bus interface unit. This module has the capability to convert serial data from the bus interface unit into a parallel format by using its serial to parallel converter. It has FETs that source the current to the load and they are driven by an external power supply. The IC670MDL730 electronic short-circuit protection output module has 3 types of protection functions which are overcurrent protection, short circuit protection, and an MOV. The MOV which is located across the power supply line protects the module from voltage transients and surges. Make sure to consider specifications of the short circuit operations before selecting an external power supply because the external power supply must maintain the output voltage levels while also providing the short circuit energy.
