Rockwell Automation and Shanghai Climate Week kick off a new era of “Climate Lighthouse”
As one of the world's leading companies in industrial automation, information technology and digital transformation, Rockwell Automation (NYSE: ROK) held the "Climate Lighthouse New Era" event with Lingang Group, Wun & Wong, Honeywell, Merck China and AUO Digital during Shanghai Climate Week 2025. The Climate Lighthouse Action has been launched during Shanghai Climate Week 2024 and has made a series of progress. On this basis, this year's Climate Lighthouse event focuses on how to create ecological synergy effects with the help of standard innovation and technology empowerment, and promote the systematic implementation of sustainable industrial upgrading. Shi An, President of Rockwell Automation (China) Co., Ltd., delivered a keynote speech entitled "Climate Lighthouse - Origin and Transformation", further exploring how corporate entities can achieve the transformation path of upstream and downstream industries in the critical period of green development.

Working together to define a new model of climate lighthouse coordinates
The Climate Lighthouse Action was initially launched in 2024, aiming to gather global wisdom and resources, promote green digital innovation, and light up a better future for mankind. Today, through a series of practices such as the selection of pilot use cases, industry research, strategic signing, and special discussions, the Climate Lighthouse Action is continuing to play a leading role, coordinating upstream and downstream companies to jointly promote technological progress and accelerate the low-carbon green transformation of the industrial chain.
Global climate governance has entered a new stage, and many challenges such as climate change and pollution control have also become pain points for the green and sustainable development of the global industry. To help further implement the Climate Lighthouse Action, Rockwell, together with participants from various industries, launched the "General Specifications for Climate Lighthouse Evaluation (Draft for Comments)" at the "New Era of Climate Lighthouse" event. By building a quantitative evaluation system covering 10 dimensions and core technical indicators, a transparent evaluation framework is formed, giving participating companies more transparent audit standards, and also defining the framework for the subsequent series of standards for Climate Lighthouse. As a friendly and open industry collaboration platform, Shanghai Climate Week can provide a cross-domain dialogue space for the improvement of this general evaluation specification. The official version of the "General Specifications for Climate Lighthouse Evaluation" is scheduled to be officially released at the end of May. Through the innovative mechanism of "standard guidance + platform empowerment", the Climate Lighthouse Action will lead more organizations and institutions to further participate in the sustainable innovation of green digital intelligence and contribute wisdom and industrial practice samples to global climate governance.
The Climate Lighthouse Evaluation General Specification (Draft for Comments) was launched at the event
Shi An, President of Rockwell Automation (China) Co., Ltd., said: "The Climate Lighthouse Evaluation General Specification aims to become a reliable reference coordinate for related companies in the process of low-carbon transformation, which is of great significance to the sustainable development of the global industrial chain. As the leader of the producer service industry chain, Rockwell will also take advantage of the opportunity of the release of this evaluation general specification to link more partners to break through the information barriers in the process of sustainable development, so that the low-carbon transformation of enterprises can be more relaxed. At the same time, based on the platform of Shanghai Climate Week, we expect this standard to become a new model for the global industrial chain in responding to climate change and promote exchanges and progress among multiple partners."
Benefits break through, light up new samples of sustainable development
In order to better interpret the current situation and prospects of the Climate Lighthouse Action, the "Climate Lighthouse" New Era: Technology Leadership and Change Trends, jointly compiled by Rockwell and other companies under the guidance of the Shanghai Climate Week Executive Committee, was released at the event, which once again elaborated on the short-term and long-term development plans of the Climate Lighthouse Action, reiterated the significance and focus of the Climate Lighthouse, and focused more on the new changes in the Climate Lighthouse Action in 2025. Based on previous issues, "The New Era of "Climate Lighthouse": Technology Leadership and Change Trends" not only introduces the domestic and foreign policy evolution of the four key areas of buildings, parks, manufacturing, and supply chains that were originally concerned in the Climate Lighthouse Action, but also makes a new round of elaboration on the advanced technologies in these four areas. Combining policy trends, technical routes and benchmark practices, this will provide industry readers with directional guidance with both strategic height and practical depth.
"The New Era of "Climate Lighthouse": Technology Leadership and Change Trends" was released at the event
The 2025 Climate Lighthouse "Lighthouse Model Award" and "Excellent Case Award" were also awarded at the event, covering process optimization and energy saving, green energy use, waste recycling and other fields. A total of 11 companies, including CBRE, China Hong Kong Exchange, Merck China, Seres, Sanyuan Gene, Philips, Giti Tire, Longi Green Energy, Xiaopeng Motors, Mengniu, and Mettler Toledo, were awarded the "Lighthouse Model Award" for their differentiated innovation and technological leadership practices, and outstanding use cases from 24 companies including Sungrow Power Supply, Nippon Paint, and Mingluo Equipment were selected as "Excellent Case Awards". Among the shortlisted use cases, 15 companies' projects have achieved improvement and progress in cost reduction, efficiency improvement and carbon reduction with Rockwell's active participation and help.
Rockwell will also continue to study industry trends, highlight excellent cases, and gather more industry participants to join the action to respond to climate challenges, so that low-carbon transformation will become a key means to leverage the sustainable progress of the industry rather than the only purpose.
Ecological integration, weaving a collaborative network for industrial chain upgrades with the responsibility of chain leaders
Under various changes such as the reconstruction of the external production environment and the shortening of the technology iteration cycle, global climate governance and corporate pursuit of dual carbon goals will inevitably encounter many challenges. As a long-term project facing the future, the goal of the Climate Lighthouse Action to build a multi-dimensional and resilient cooperation network is imperative.
Therefore, in order to continue to play the benchmarking leading role of the climate lighthouse and further integrate the surging force of green development, under the leadership of Rockwell, a total of 16 enterprises, associations, scientific research institutions, etc. from all walks of life established the Climate Lighthouse Ecological Alliance, and held a launching ceremony at the event site, which will provide new possibilities for the diversified scenario practice and interaction of the climate lighthouse.
Shi An said: "The climate lighthouse needs to be built by multiple parties. Through standard guidance and ecological co-governance, Rockwell will further use its rich cross-industry resources and accumulation to empower green sustainable development and industrial sustainable development as a "chain leader", so that the climate lighthouse will be upgraded from an advanced concept that condenses the wisdom of multiple parties to a key roadmap for the high-quality development of China's industry."
Looking to the future, Rockwell will also use its expertise to help companies resolve the various difficulties faced in global digitalization, greening, and sustainable development, and lead the future to unlimited possibilities.
