RIO topology with redundant cable: A MA0185100 T- connector is necessary when you have each I/O drop on the system. The reason is that you must electrically isolate the drop from the trunk cable. That way your system gains protection a possible mismatch of impedance and also from cable disconnections. You have to keep a minimum signal strength of 14 decibels between each I/O drop and the trunk cable. There is a signal loss of 1 decibel on the trunk cable when it crosses through the T-connector. There is a total of 35 decibels you can have available from the head part of the RIO CPU. The entirety of the cable architecture is not allowed to reach past that limit.
