HIS and ENG, HIS and supervisory systems can be connected by an Ethernet LAN; supervisory computers CENTUM and personal computers on the Ethernet LAN can access messages and trend data in the CENTUM CS 3000 system. The Ethernet can also be used for sending trend data files from the HIS to supervisory computers, for equalizing HIS databases and for acquiring trend date for other stations, eliminating the load on the V net. A system with only a single HIS, with engineering functions installed, does not need Ethernet – but in general Ethernet (and corresponding network engineering) is required.
The terminal type multiplexer module is installed in the Nest for Terminal-type I/O Modules (AMN31). Up to two modules can be installed in one nest. Signal cables are connected by M4 screws to the terminals of the module.
